San Diego Marathi Sanskar Varg is a diligently run educational organization, solely operated, and controlled by a group of Volunteers. What started at the Moharir Residence in 2009 as a home, has grown into a big institution with a strength of more than fifty students, ten dedicated teachers and one coordinator. The primary objective is to instill the rich Indian values, culture, and varied heritage into the hearts of the children from Maharashtra. Since 2010, the Shala is under the umbrella of San Diego Maharashtra Mandal. The parent Organization is Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM). The Shala has sixty locations throughout US and Canada, with the enrollment of 1700 students. We offer five course levels to complete the school program. The mission is to achieve proficiency in three basic skills of Marathi language: Reading, Writing and Speaking. The primary objective is to introduce students to the rich culture and history of our country in general and Maharashtra using the Marathi Language.
The eligibility age for admission is five years and onwards. The students appear for exam at the end of each year and are awarded certificates. The students have the freedom of completing one level course in two years depending on their pace of learning. The BMM Shala is affiliated to Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune, India. The entire program is run together by the Marathi Language Expert Committee of BMM and Bharati Vidyapeeth.
The San Diego Marathi Shala follows the BMM Curriculum and yearly exam pattern. In addition, we have programs like shlokas and poem recitation, storytelling competition, festival celebration, and annual day event to provide students more exposure to our language and culture. We also run a library to enhance the reading ability.
The Shala is thriving in the auspicious, safe, and sacred environment of Shri Mandir, for the last thirteen years. For additional information you can contact, firstname.lastname@example.org or go to website https://sites.google.com/site/sdmarathishala/.
